A fully documented account of the business relationship, the legal campaign filed against Detroit Tubs, and the court's total dismissal of every claim — published in the interest of transparency and community protection.
I am Robert Anderson, owner of Detroit Tubs. This report is a formal exercise in transparency and reputation management — a documented, evidence-based account of my business relationship with Dylan Ribble, the legal campaign he brought against me, and the court's definitive resolution of those claims.
My objective is to provide a clear, documented warning to any individual or organization considering a professional engagement with Mr. Ribble or TNT Refinishing, LLC. The facts speak for themselves: I provided Mr. Ribble with substantial financial support; he responded by establishing a competing business while still under contract, then pursued a multi-year legal campaign that was ultimately dismissed in its entirety.
This page documents everything. It is not an attack — it is a record. And it is being published because Mr. Ribble continues to make false and defamatory statements online, including targeting a prospective Detroit Tubs franchisee, J. Allison, on Facebook.
All statements on this page are made in good faith and reflect verified documentation including IRS records, court filings, and signed contracts. This page may be updated as additional conduct is documented. If you believe any factual statement is in error, contact us with documentation for review.
During the 2017 tax year, Dylan Ribble was engaged as an independent contractor for Detroit Tubs. The financial record leaves no ambiguity about the scale of Robert Anderson's investment in Mr. Ribble's livelihood.
While still engaged as an independent contractor and receiving compensation from Detroit Tubs, Dylan Ribble organized TNT Refinishing, LLC on August 29, 2017 — just days before the final termination of the professional relationship in September 2017. This overlap established a clear breach of professional trust and contractual obligation from the outset.
A formal independent contractor agreement was executed between Detroit Tubs LLC and Dylan Ribble. The agreement contains explicit non-compete language — language Mr. Ribble chose to ignore.
This contract is between Dylan Ribble, The Independent Contractor, and Detroit Tubs (AKA the Company).
It shall be agreed upon that The Independent Contractor and Detroit Tubs will enter into this agreement of his/her duties. The agreement will detail pay and expectations in their independent contractor status with the company.
The Independent Contractor will be compensated $20.00 for every sales call he makes and then 10% of each sale for commissions.
Labor Pay Scale: $150.00 per bathtub · $300.00 for tub and 3 walls · $450.00 for whole bathroom · $100.00 for average size bathroom floor · +$100.00 for stone fleck. Up-sells split 50/50 after costs.
The Independent Contractor agrees to reimburse Detroit Tubs / Independent Home Tubs for any job requiring: re-spray, damage to customer property due to negligence, or legal issues arising from customers originally assigned to them.
The Independent Contractor will be required to train other employees as the company deems fit.
The contract establishes a clear 24-month non-compete obligation. Dylan Ribble formed TNT Refinishing, LLC on August 29, 2017 — a direct bathtub and tile refinishing competitor — while still under this agreement and receiving compensation from Detroit Tubs. This is not a matter of interpretation. It is documented fact.
Nearly two years after the conclusion of the business relationship, Dylan Ribble and TNT Refinishing, LLC launched a legal campaign against Robert Anderson in the 40th Judicial Circuit Court of Lapeer County.
In this action, Mr. Ribble sought damages in excess of $25,000.00, alleging that Robert Anderson was "unlawfully operating" and "converting property." The complaint included five separate counts:
Alleged intentional interference with customers.
✓ DismissedSought to prevent Robert Anderson from operating under specific business names.
✓ DismissedAlleged unauthorized use of the name TNT Refinishing.
✓ DismissedAlleged unfair methods of trade.
✓ DismissedAlleged that Robert Anderson's conduct constituted an unfair method of competition.
✓ DismissedThis lawsuit was filed by the individual who, while under a non-compete agreement with Detroit Tubs, formed a competing refinishing company. Rather than acknowledge his own breach of contract, Mr. Ribble chose to spend years in litigation pursuing claims against the very company that paid him $55,964.00 in a single year.
The court's resolution of Case No. 19-052875-CZ provides the definitive conclusion regarding the credibility of Dylan Ribble's allegations. Every claim was dismissed. No award. No costs assessed against Robert Anderson.
All five counts dismissed in entirety. No award, no judgment, no relief granted to Mr. Ribble or TNT Refinishing, LLC.
No costs assessed. No judgment against Detroit Tubs. The case is closed. Mr. Ribble's counter-claim was also dismissed.
The court entered an Order Dismissing Case upon stipulation of the parties on September 24, 2020. The dismissal by stipulation signifies that the Plaintiff ultimately recognized the lack of merit required to move forward.
The court's final order confirmed the following:
1. Dismissal in Entirety. The court dismissed Dylan Ribble's claims against Robert Anderson in their entirety, ruling the matter closed.
2. Plaintiff's Counter-Claim Resolved. In an atypical legal maneuver, the Plaintiff (Ribble) had also filed a counter-claim; the court explicitly ordered that "the counter claim filed by Plaintiff is hereby dismissed."
3. No Award or Costs. The court ordered that no costs be assessed to either party — finalizing the matter without any judgment, award, or financial relief granted to Dylan Ribble or TNT Refinishing, LLC.
When a legal campaign for $25,000.00 ends in total dismissal by stipulation — including the dismissal of the Plaintiff's own counter-claims — the lack of substance in the original claims becomes undeniable. Dylan Ribble chose to initiate this legal action. The court's outcome speaks to its merit.
Despite the court's complete dismissal of his claims, Dylan Ribble has not moved on. He continues to engage in conduct that harms Detroit Tubs, its owner, and individuals associated with the company — including a prospective franchisee.
Dylan Ribble has advertised his competing bathtub and tile reglazing services on Facebook Marketplace under his own name — listing services directly competitive with Detroit Tubs at a price of $250 in Lapeer, MI. This is documented below. It represents the same competition his signed agreement explicitly prohibited.
Mr. Ribble has directly targeted J. Allison — a person in the process of exploring a Detroit Tubs franchise opportunity — on Facebook with false or misleading information. This conduct appears deliberately designed to interfere with a legitimate business relationship by discouraging a prospective partner using bad-faith information. Documentation on file.
Mr. Ribble has posted false and misleading content about Detroit Tubs and Robert Anderson online. These posts do not reflect the experience of a genuine customer — they reflect the ongoing agenda of a former contractor whose own legal campaign was dismissed in its entirety by a court of law.
In 2017, I paid Dylan Ribble $55,964.00. While still under our agreement, he formed a competing company. Two years later, he brought a five-count lawsuit against me seeking over $25,000.00. That lawsuit was dismissed — every claim, including his own counter-claim, without a single dollar awarded to him. And still, he continues. This record exists because the community deserves to know.
The facts of this dispute reveal a stark contrast in professional conduct. Robert Anderson provided Dylan Ribble with $55,964.00 in compensation in a single year. In return, Mr. Ribble established a competing entity while still under contract, pursued a baseless multi-year legal campaign, and continues to make false statements online.
The court's final dismissal is the primary evidence of Mr. Ribble's lack of professional credibility. A legal campaign for $25,000.00 ending in total dismissal — by stipulation, with his own counter-claims also dismissed, and no costs assessed — speaks definitively to the merit of his claims.
Detroit Tubs strongly advises any homeowner, business entity, or prospective partner to exercise extreme caution before entering into any agreement with Dylan Ribble or TNT Refinishing, LLC. The documented record of contractual violations, baseless litigation, and ongoing false statements online should inform any decision to engage with Mr. Ribble professionally.
